According to a recent report from 9to5mac, Apple currently has plans to open its first retail store in Brazil sometime next year. The store’s reported location will be in Rio de Janiero, with plans of a launch somewhere between February and March of 2014. However, delays due to construction or staffing can always push back that timetable.
Back in November of 2012, Apple confirmed it had plans to open a retail store in Brazil, however much since then has not been heard. It was rumored the company would launch the store sometime in July of 2013.
Unfortunately, the store’s launch was pushed back due to recruiting and staffing issues. In fact, Apple is planning on temporarily relocating some US workers to Brazil In order to educate local employees about Apple retail store procedures and protocols.
The store, which has been under construction since 2012, will be located in the Village Mall shopping center. Apple has received authorization to sell the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c in Brazil, but no word to when the country will officially see the device.
