How to Disable Smart Quotes and Dashes in Mac OS X Yosemite

These are instructions on how to disable curly quotes or smart quotes in Mac OS X Yosemite.

Curly quotations can become quite a problem if you are typing code into an text editor. They can easily be disabled by following these steps:

Step 1. Go to System Preferences

Step 2. Choose Keyboard in the System Preferences

Step 3. Go to Text tab from the Keyboard window

Step 4. Uncheck Use smart quotes and dashes
