Following numerous reports of difficulties accessing the App Store, Apple has confirmed a major outage affecting all users.
Multiple Store Services – All users are affected
Customers may be unable to make purchases from the App Store, iTunes Store, iBooks Store, or Mac App Store.
In addition to the Stores being down, developers are reporting that they are unable to log into iTunes Connect or use TestFlight.

“We apologize to our customers experiencing problems with iTunes and other services this morning,” Apple spokesperson Tom Neumayr told BuzzFeed News. “The cause was an internal DNS error at Apple. We’re working to make all of the services available to customers as soon as possible, and we thank everyone for their patience.”
Though the outage left other services like Apple Pay unscathed, it is no doubt having some effect on one of Apple’s major cash cow: apps. The iTunes store generated $2.6 billion in net sales in the last three months of 2014. Based on that number, an eight-hour outage would imply about $9.28 million in lost sales.
The people of the Internet are not patient however, and have flooded Twitter with gripes about the 8 hour long outage. It’s not just the App Store and iTunes that are affected either. Apple Pay has been rendered worthless and Apple Stores have had to pull out their old credit card machines like it’s 1999.
The iTunes store might be down. But they made sure I have this iWatch icon on my phone screen. Because priorities.
