At the recent 2024 AI Hardware & Edge AI Summit in San Jose, Calif., I caught up with Arun Nandi, Head of Data & Analytics, Unilever, a large Fortune 500 consumer goods company with a presence in 190 countries.
The discussion takes us on a tour of the company’s mission and market strategy along with a brief history of the firm including its heavy reliance on ML, AI and GenAI (even before the current craze). We then turn to a discussion of AI adoption in the enterprise including the rising importance of ROI for AI initiatives. Nandi talks about the “inverted pyramid of AI investment.” Next up is a discussion for what’s driving the use of ML an AI in the enterprise these days. And finally, we take out our crystal ball looking ahead 12-18 months to see what’s ahead for the company in the field of AI.
