Apple today announced the new lower-cost iPhone, the iPhone 5C, at its iPhone media event. The new phone comes in five colors: green, yellow, blue, white and red/pink and is “made with all the incredible tech that customers love with iPhone 5.” The phone also houses the same A6 processor as the iPhone 5 and same 8MP rear camera.
The new phone also includes some upgraded parts, such as a hybrid IR filter, a new front-facing FaceTime camera, more LTE bands, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0, and is made of hard-coated polycarbonate with a steel-reinforced interior that also serves as the antenna. Apple also announced a line of cases for the new phone for $29 that snap onto the back of iPhone 5C and come in grey, pink, yellow, blue, green and black.
The iPhone 5C will come in a 16 GB variant for $99 and a 32 GB variant for $199, both on a two-year contract.
