Leaked China Mobile posters reveal that the company is preparing to advertise ‘the strongest iPhone’ in China with full 3G/4G support and speeds of up to 100 Mbps, reports UnwiredView.
Apple is widely rumored to have finally struck a deal with China Mobile, the largest cellphone carrier in the world. Earlier this month, the company was granted the final license necessary to launch the smartphone on China Mobile’s network standard.
The hottest topic of discussion in mobile in China today, is when their carriers will launch 4G services. The biggest mobile operator- China Mobile- has its network ready for local flavor of 4G, called TD-LTE, and had a bunch of smartphones certified for it a month ago. The only thing that’s missing- is the permission from Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) to light-up the TD-LTE network for commercial use.
Sources indicate that 4G licenses will definitely be handed out before the end of the year, perhaps as soon as mid-October. China Mobile’s 4G network would go live soon after.
China Mobile has around 700 million subscribers. If the company launches its new 4G network alongside the new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, that will likely translate to a huge number of sales for Apple.
