At the recent 2024 AI Hardware & Edge AI Summit in San Jose, Calif., I caught up with Gayathri Radhakrishnan, Partner – Investment Team with Hitachi Ventures, a venture firm that looks for the best solutions to address the world’s technical, social and environmental challenges
The discussion starts with a brief tour of the company’s mission and market strategy. Next up is a look at data pipelines. We’re seeing a rise in the number of enterprises expecting to deploy GenAI and LLMs in production in the next year. As a result, data management systems are evolving to be more scalable and observable. Gayathri Radhakrishnan offers her perspectives on this trend. We then turn to a discussion of another important trend that is surfacing – “Agentic AI infrastructure and applications.” It appears that the groundwork has been laid over decades starting with RPA to improvements across the stack from infrastructure and AI/ML to Foundation Models, setting the stage for AI-powered agents. Gayathri Radhakrishnan highlights how her firm’s investment strategies be affected by the trend towards Agentic AI. And finally, we take out our crystal ball looking ahead 12-18 months to see what’s ahead for the company in the field of AI.
